Mr Kavinda de Zoysa – Chairman
Mr Kavinda de Zoysa is the Chairman/Non-Executive Director of Bank of Ceylon (BOC), Sri Lanka’s
largest commercial bank, with over 2,300 touchpoints, which include a network of over 650
branches and with overseas presence in UK, India, Maldives and Seychelles. He was also appointed
as Chairman of Property Development Limited, effective from November 2024.
He is the Chairman/Non-Executive Director of BOC UK Ltd: SMF9 and the Chairman/Non-Executive
Director of BOC IT Solutions Pvt Ltd. He has also been appointed as Chairman/Non-Executive
Director of BOC Property Development and Management (Private) Limited, and Independent Non-
Executive Director of Lanka Hospitals Corporation PLC. Further, he is a Global Council Member of
CIMA UK (Board of Directors), (CIMA & AICPA together form the world’s largest accounting body).
He was also a Board Director of AmCham Sri Lanka.
He is a career Banker with over three decades of diverse banking experience and over 25 years in
Management. During his career, Mr de Zoysa has successfully navigated both local and
international banking environments, holding senior leadership roles.
Prior to BOC, he served as Director and Country Business Head at Citibank N.A Sri Lanka. During the
tenor of nearly two decades at Citi, he also served as a core member of the Country Management
Team and Governance Committees. His leadership at Citi saw him develop, implement, and
execute Strategic Plans, lead landmark Corporate Finance & Capital Market transactions, M&A,
Advisory, and promote Digitization. Prior to joining Citi, he held roles at National Development
Bank (NDB), Nations Trust Bank (NTB) and Seylan Bank.
His overall exposure covers Corporate & Investment banking, Digitization, Risk Management,
Strategic Planning, M&A, Advisory, Capital Markets, Management Accounting, Development
Banking, Project Finance, SME lending, Banking Operations, Trade, ECA Financing, Audit, Cash
Management and Treasury (FICC product solutions).
He held the position of Chairperson MESANA Regional Engagement Group of the AICPA
(Association of International Certified Professional Accountants) for year 2022/23. Since 2011, Mr
de Zoysa has been a Senior Membership Assessor and a member of the CIMA Global Membership
Panel, where he once served as Vice Chairperson. He has served as a Chief Examiner, Moderator
and Advisor to the Institute of Bankers of Sri Lanka and is also a visiting lecturer for MBA programs
at the University of Colombo and the University of Ruhuna.
His academic and professional qualifications include:
- MBA (Merit Pass) from the University of Colombo and Gold Medalist.
- Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Management Accountants (CIMA) U.K.
- Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Marketing (CIM) U.K.
- Fellow of the Institute of Bankers of Sri Lanka (IBSL).
- Fellow of the Institute of Certified Management Accountants of Sri Lanka (CMA).
- Chartered Global Management Accountant (CGMA) – AICPA & CIMA.
- Member of the Sri Lanka Institute of Directors (SLID).
- Successful completion of the ICAEW Non-Executive Director Certification, jointly awarded by ICAEW and the Non-Executive Directors’ Association (NEDA) in UK.
- Successfully completed Executive Education program in “Leading with Data and Analytics” from the University of Chicago Booth School of Business.
He is an alumnus of St. Sebastian’s College, Moratuwa.
