Mr R B M Gunawardena – Director

Eng R B M Gunawardena was appointed to the Board of Property Development Limited on 25 th
February 2020.

Eng Gunawardena holds a B.Sc. (Hons) degree, specialized in Civil Engineering awarded by the
University of Moratuwa (1991) and Postgraduate Diploma in (Highway Construction & Traffic
Engineering) awarded by University of Moratuwa (1996). He also followed several courses in
technical and management fields including Diplomas in Commercial Arbitration, Business
Management and Human Rights. In recognition of the dedicated services rendered by Eng
Gunawardena to the fraternity of Engineering, he was awarded the title of Honorary Doctor of
Engineering Management by American National Business University in 2023

He is a Chartered Civil Engineer (Sri Lanka and India), an International Professional Engineer and a
Chartered Professional Manager (Sri Lanka). He holds Fellow Memberships of Institution of
Engineers, Sri Lanka, American Society of Civil Engineers, Institute of Highway Engineers (UK),
Cambridge Association of Managers in the category of Certified Engineering Manager endorsed by
Cambridge Academy of Management and validated by Quality Assurance Commission of United
Kingdom, Institute of Chartered Professional Managers, Sri Lanka and United Kingdom Association
of Professionals, United Kingdom.

He has over 35 years of extensive experience in the private and government sectors. He
commenced his career as a Site Engineer and gradually promoted as Project Engineer, Deputy
General Manager, Director and Managing Director of a reputed construction company in Sri Lanka
in which he served for 24 years. Thereafter, he joined the State Sector and served as the Director
(Advisory Services) of Construction Industry Development Authority. Eng Gunawardena served in
the Bank of Ceylon as the Chief Manager (Technical Services) for 4 ½ years from 2018. He also
served as the Deputy Chief Executive Officer/ Deputy Executive Secretary of the Institution of
Engineers, Sri Lanka. He is currently serving as Chief Executive Officer of National Construction
Association of Sri Lanka/Executive Director of University College of Construction
Technology/Advanced Construction Training Academy.

He has served as a Member of Board of Directors of several government institutions and as a
Member of Cabinet appointed Procurement Committees. He is currently serving as a Member of
Board of Governors of Sri Lanka National Arbitration Center. He has also taken part in several local
and foreign conventions and actively participated in several social activities. In recognition of the
dedicated social services rendered by Eng Gunawardena, he was awarded the title of His Royal
Highness of Charity by SUNFO Global Federation in 2024.
